Notchview, Massachusetts


Hiking with your dog in snow and cross-country skiing are not a good mix. Dogs tend to seek out the compacted grooves cut by the skis rather than try and bound through what may well be face-high snow and damage the tracks. Notchview, in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts is a premier nordic ski destination with more than 40 kilometers of cross-country trails spread over more than 3,000 acres. They average more than 80 days a year of trail skiing and dogs are banned from all 27 trails - EXCEPT one. You can even ski with your dog on a 2-kilometer loop south of Route 9...
